Newsroom & Masthead

Who makes Saigon Sentinel

Editorial leadership

Saigon Sentinel is a small, independent newsroom that pairs human editorial judgment with AI-assisted reporting. The Editor-in-Chief sets the standards every article must meet — enforced by automated originality, citation, and fact-grounding checks — reviews each piece before publication, audits published output, and handles corrections. We disclose AI involvement openly on our editorial policy and methodology pages.

Bảo Nguyễn

Editor-in-Chief & Founder

Bảo Nguyễn founded Saigon Sentinel to give the Vietnamese diaspora truly independent, in-depth community coverage at a time when misinformation moves faster than fact-checks and the language barrier makes verification harder than it should be. He sets the editorial standards and quality controls that govern the AI-assisted reporting, reviews each article before publication, audits published output, and handles corrections.

AI personas in our coverage

We use AI tools to help draft, translate, illustrate, and narrate articles. When an AI persona appears in the product — for example as a narrator — we label it as such so readers always know what they're hearing.

Hoài Trang

AI Radio Host (synthesized voice)

Hoài Trang is the AI persona that narrates our Vietnamese-language audio briefings. Every script she reads is drawn from a published Saigon Sentinel article that has passed our automated quality checks.

Contributors & correspondents

Saigon Sentinel welcomes pitches from Vietnamese-American writers, photographers, and community correspondents — especially on stories from Houston, Northern and Southern California, and other diaspora hubs. Reach the editor at [email protected].
